Gummy Worms

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. I live with my buddy James, on Sparkle Road. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful.

Look at this! See all the gummy worms? Wendy is the nice lady at Mac's Milk. She sells gummy worms and gummy fish and other yummy gummy things. I l-o-v-e gummy worms. James puts them in my porridge every morning. Gummy worms are one of my favouritest things to eat. They're in the Canada Food Guide.

After breakfast, know what? I brush my teeth with my Ninja toothbrush. When I was just a little cubby James brushed my teeth for me. Now I can brush them all by myself. After breakfast we go outside to play. Special Ed James puts his clothes on. I don't have to get dressed. Bear cubs don't need clothes. We get to run around bare naked. That's a pun.

Sometimes I wear my Cat-in-the-Hat sox just for fun. I can run really fast when I wear my sox. The sox were a present from Tanner and Cassidy. Tanner is a big 'ole yeller dog and Cassidy is a bunny rabbit.

Okay. I gotta go. James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles. I'm a handsome bear cub. I'm a Son of Windsor. I'm a Prince of Ontario. James will tickle my ears, kiss my nose and make me laugh right out loud. This is me, Charles the bear cub saying, "Be good citizens. Eat all your porridge and gummy worms. Starving children in Belgium would love to eat porridge and gummy worms. Don't forget to brush your teeth! Over and out!"

Hanging out at the Mill Dollar Store

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. I live with my buddy, James. I look after him, 'cuz he's forgetful. He made spaghetti for breakfast!

Know what? I'm a the Mill Dollar Store with my buddy, Allen. That's on the corner of Mill and Sandwich Streets, right by our house on Sparkle Road. Allen looks after the whole store. Allen has candy and toys. He has lots of other stuff, too. If you have money you can take some home.

James always tells me to keep my paws in my pockets so I don't break anything. He's silly. Bear cubs don't have pockets. Maybe I will grow some when I'm older. I sure hope so. I want thumbs, too.

If you don't have money and you take something, that's stealing and you will get caught and get your paws printed and your mug shot taken and have to stay in jail. That's not nice. I could be a helper here. I can say, "The marshmallows are in Aisle Six" and "Did you find everything you were looking for?" That's what helpers say.

Helpers are good citizens and good citizens get to eat Smarties and licorice. Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor?" That's me! Charles. I gotta say good-bye to Allen and go get my ears tickled and my nose kissed so I can laugh right out loud. I sure hope you're a good citizen and somebody tickles your ears today! "Bye for now. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying Over and out!"

Rainbow on Sandwich Street

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. I'm five. My birthday is on Canada Day. I live with my buddy, James, on Sparkle Road. That's near Sandwich Street. I look after him 'cuz he's really old. He says he was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark!

We're getting rain every day. I like to go out and splash in the puddles. Know what? After it rains we get a rainbow. Rainbows are pretty. I wonder if they taste good. I took a picture of the rainbow. See it? James says that the first rainbow came at the time of Noah's Ark. I know what rainbows mean. They are promises.

Wow! I wish I could ride on Noah's Ark. I'd have lots of friends to play with. I wanna play Hide & Seek with zebras and giraffes. Oh. Wait. I'd play with Tanner and Cassidy, too. Tanner is a big 'ole yeller dog and Cassidy is a bunny rabbit. They're my friends. I could be the lookout, you know, 'cuz I can climb real high. I'm the bestest climber. "Ahoy! Rainbow on the starboard!" That's what I'd holler.

Okay. I gotta go 'cuz James and me are gonna ride our bikes up and down Sandwich Street and make fire engine noises. We'll eat licorice and splash in puddles, too. Maybe we'll see Noah and hop on his Ark for a ride! Yeah. Hope you see a rainbow today. They're good luck, you know. This me, Charles the Bear Cub. Over and out!

Chocolate Milk

Boo! Did I surprise you? I hope so. I'm Charles the Bear Cub.  You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with James. He's my buddy. I look after him cuz he's old and forgetful. He says, "Charles, you're as busy as a beaver." Now you know why I have to look after him. I'm not a beaver. I'm a bear cub.

I'm five. My birthday is on Canada Day. Know what? I'm hanging out in the fridge at Mac's Milk. I like to surprise people. When they open the door to get milk, I holler, "Boo!" and hand them the milk.

That makes me a helper and helpers are good citizens, you know. I get to drink chocolate milk and eat Smarties, too. Oh! Wait. Did you hear that?  James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?"

That's me! Charles. I'm gonna get out of here and go get my ears tickled. I l-o-v-e having my ears tickled. I can laugh right out loud and chocolate milk comes out my nose. I sure hope there's someone special to tickle your ears today! Bye for now. Be good citizens. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Over and out!"

Grandfather Clock

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy,Grandpa James, on Sparkle Road. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20! That's really old.

We're at the MiLL Tavern. Look at me! I climbed way up here on top of Grandfather Clock. I don't where the Grandmother Clock is. I don't know where the grandbaby clocks are. I'll ask Bill and Aggie. They own the place. I bet they know where the rest of the clock family is. We could all play together!

Grandfather Clock is really tall. When I was just a little cubby I couldn't climb this high. Clocks have hands, you know. The big hand is on the nine and the little hand is on the six. That means it's almost six o'clock. Oh! Six o'clock! I'd better get down from here and find Grandpa  James.

We're eating Greek food at the MiLL. I l-o-v-e skordalia and stuffed grape leaves. They're yummy. Know what? Yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. Smarties are yummy. So is cheesecake. I hate brocollis and sauerkrauts. They're nasty. No one should have to eat anything that tastes nasty.

I hope you eat from all four food groups so you can be big and strong. Then you can ride your bike up and down Sandwich Street and climb trees and dig big holes and have fun. Okay! I gotta go eat. Oh.Wait. If you come down to the MiLL you can eat with us. I'll save you a place right next to me, okay?  Bye for now. Over and out!

The MiLL Tavern

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me.  I live with my buddy,  James, on Sparkle Road. That's next to Sandwich Street. We're at The MiLL Tavern. That's at Mill and Sandwich Streets.  James is talking to people. I put up my feet so I can think better. Thinking isn't so hard when I put my feet up.

Know what? This is a comfy chair. Bill and Aggie are the nice people who own this place. They have a website. www.themillonsandwich.com Know what? I want French fries and chocolate milk. They're yummy and yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. Some nights there is music at the MiLL. I like music. My favouritest song is Rubber Duckie. Oh. Wait. I like songs by Raffi, too. Know what? I could be a singer. I'd sing songs about bear cubs. I'd sing about  James, too. We're on the internet, you know. We're internet poem stars 'cuz we know lost of poems. Here is one--

The dinosaur,
A beast of yore,
Doesn't live here,
Anymore.
THE END.

Gotta go. My French fries are getting cold. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Eat all four food groups. Over and out!"

Judge Charles

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. I'm five, you know. I'm a big bear, now. I'm not a little cubby, anymore.  It's my job to look after James ' cuz he needs me.

Look at me! I'm in the courtroom at Mackenzie Hall. Guess what? I'm Judge Charles. I know what judges do. Judges sentence bad citizens to serve time in Her Majesty's Royal Canadian hoosegow. Hoosegow means jail. I'm a good judge. I say, "Order in the court!" I say, "Will the Crown please approach the bench." That's pretty good, eh. Maybe I will get my own TV show one day on the CBC. Oh. Wait. I hear James hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Where is my Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles!  Okay. I better get down from here and go find James so he can tickle my ears, kiss my nose and make me laugh right out loud. Be good citizens or you will wind up in front of me. This court is adjourned for a 15-minute Smarties break.  Bye for now!

The Fountain

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. I look after him cuz he's forgetful and really old. He must be 20 'cuz he says he was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark.

Look up here! I climbed up  on the fountain. The fountain is in front of the Post Office in Olde Sandwich Towne. I l-o-v-e to climb. There's no water in the fountain this summer. That's too bad 'cuz I like to watch the water.

Know what? I can see everything from here. I can see the Canada flag.   If bear cubs had pockets I'd keep things in there. I would watch everybody and eat all the Smarties in my pocket. I would eat the red ones last. It's a rule.  Bear cubs don't have pockets. Maybe I will grow some when I'm older. I'm five, you know. My birthday is on  Canada Day. When I'm older I am sure I can climb even higher.

When I was a little cubby I couldn't climb very high.  James says I used to crawl on the floor and look for trouble. I don't know who trouble is. Okay. I gotta go. I gotta get me some gummy worms at Mac's Milk. Wait. I know. If you come with me, you can get some, too! This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, Be good citizens.  Bye for now!"

Ricky, Guard of the Gummy Worms

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. Today he forgot where he put the gummy worms!

This is me with my buddy Ricky. He's a cashier. Know what that is? He guards the gummy worms at Mac's Milk. He takes our money when we buy gummy worms. Oh. Ricky guards the chocolate milk, too. He has a very important job.

If I don't give him money and leave with my gummy worms, that's stealing. Stealing is something bad citizens do. Bad citizens get handcuffed and paw printed and get their mug shots taken. My buddy, James says bad citizens get locked up in Her Majesty's Royal Canadian hoosegow. They don't get root beer. They don't get to play Space Invaders.

I'm a good citizen. Know what? I bet I could be a cashier when I grow up. I can already say, "Please provide photo ID" and "Will there be anything else, love?" Ricky says I need to learn to tell time and count money. Okay. I will do that but not right now cuz I hear  James hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?"  That's me! Charles. I'm gonna run and get my ears tickled! I love having my ears tickled, don't you?" This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, Be good citizens. Pay for things at the store. Don't steal! Bye for now!"

Marshmallows

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James, on Sparkle Road. That's right by Sandwich Street. I look after him 'cuz he's really old and forgetful. Today he forgot me!

Look what I found! I'm at the Mill Dollar Store. I found marshmallows. I l-o-v-e marshmallows. We ate them at the Happy Cub Camp this summer in Quebec. I know what marshmallows are in French. They are called guimauves.

Know what? Marshmallows taste just as good in French as they do in English. I know how to roast marshmallows over a fire--but make sure the fire is outside the house, okay? I will give $1 to Allen, the nice man who owns the store and I can take the whole bag home. I wonder if I used to like marshmallows when I was just a cubby. I'll ask  James.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Where's my Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles! I gotta go get my ears tickled so I can laugh right out loud. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens and eat all your marshmallows. Starving children in Belgium would love to eat marshmallows. Bye for now!"

My Job

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. I look after him and keep him out of trouble.

Know what I'm doing? I'm taking out the trash. It's my job. I like to help. That's what good citizens do. Know what? Good citizens get to go swimming and feed the ducks. Good citizens get to ride bikes and climb trees. Oh. Wait! The bestest part is that good citizens get to eat wallermelons and Smarties.

I take the trash outside and throw the bag in the big blue dumpster. Then me and  James can go play. We're gonna have fun today. We can dig big holes in the back yard. Maybe we will go on a lion hunt. Yeah! I like to hunt for lions. Know what? We got water guns from Alan at the Mill Dollar Storee. Water guns will help us hunt down lions.

Oh! Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles. Okay. I gotta go get my ears tickled so I can laugh out loud. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be a good citizen and eat all your porridge. Hope someone tickles your ears today. Bye for now!"

Climbing on Cars

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James.  I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He remembers the invention of the rainbow!

Look at me! I'm way up here on top of the car! It's fun to climb way up high. I can see everything from here. I wish I could see tomorrow but I don't know where to look. I know. If I stay up here all night, then I can see tomorrow. Oh. Then it wouldn't be tomorrow. It would be today. Then maybe I can find yesterday.

Know what? Thinking is hard work. It makes me hungry. I'm gonna find  James and see if we can get on our blue bikes and go to Mac's Milk and get some Smarties. Yeah! Good idea. Okay! I gotta go! Bye for now. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Climb way up high so you can see tomorrow! Over and out!"

Happy Face

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James, on Sparkle Road.

Look at this! I made a happy face. It's as big as me. Special Ed James says I'm growing like a weed. I don't want to grow like a weed. I want to grow like a bear cub.

Know what? Bear cubs don't have pockets or thumbs. When I get older I hope I will grow pockets and thumbs. I can't eat this happy face. Sometimes I make happy faces with peanut butter. I can eat those. They taste yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

Happy faces make us feel good. This one is for d James. I know it will make him smile. If you make a happy face for someone, you're being a good citizen and you get to eat wallermelons and licorice, too. I gotta go. We're going down to the river and feed the ducks. Wait! I know! Come with us. I got lots of popcorn and jar of pickles. Do you think the ducks would like pickles? Okay. See you there. Bye for now. This is me, Charles, the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Feed your duck friends pickles. Won't they be surprised! Over and out!"

The Telephone

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road. That's in Olde Sandwich Towne in the City of Windsor.  I look after James 'cuz he's old and forgetful. He lost the phone. I found it--James put it in the fridge!

Look at me. I know how to use the telephone. I can call my friends Tanner--he's a big 'ole yeller dog--and my friend Cassidy--he's a bunny rabbit. If my buddy,  James, gets sick I can call 911 and the ambulance will take him to hospital. Phones are good things even though we can't eat them and they don't make good pets.

Do you hear that?  James is shouting, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles! I gotta go. I'm gonna get my ears tickled and I'm gonna laugh right out loud. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Learn how to use the phone so you can talk to your friends and call 911 for emergencies. Bye for now."

Tomatoes!

Hi. I'm Charles. I'm a bear cub.You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. It's my job to look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful and shouldn't live alone.

Know what? We got tomatoes. We got two tomatoes growing. There's one on Plantasia and another one on Boo. They are little tomatoes--littler than a newborn bear cub. It's my job to water them. I spray the leaves with water from my spray gun. James calls it 'spritzing.'

Every day I talk to the tomatoes. I don't know if they can hear me 'cuz I can't find their ears. I know where my ears are. They're on top of my head. Do you know where your ears are?

I can't wait for the tomatoes to turn red. That's how we know tomatoes are grown up, see. Then we can eat them all up. I l-o-v-e tomato and Miracle Whip sandwiches. They're yummy. Yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. Okay. I took care of the tomatoes. Now it's time to eat. I know what we're having for breakfast. Porridge with gummy worms. I gotta go 'cuz I'm as hungry as a bear! I want James to tickle my ears and kiss my nose. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Look after your tomatoes. Bye for now."

Air

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub.  You know me. I live with my buddy,  James, on Sparkle Road. It's my job to look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. I worry sometimes he will forget how to breathe!

Know what? I'm being a good citizen. This car belongs to my buddy Peter. I'm checking his tires for air. Air is good. Tires need air, just like bear cubs. If tires don't have air, we're not going anywhere. I like to go places so I wanna make sure there's enough air in the tires for us to get there. I bet you that air is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. I know! I'll ask  James. He knows lots of things. Yeah. That's a good idea. Okay.

I have to go find James. When he sees me he'll holler, "There's my handsome bear cub! Come here my Son of Windsor! Come here my Prince of Ontario! He'll scoop me up and tickle my ears and kiss my nose. This is me Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens and check for air your tires. Oh! Wait! Don't forget to brush your teeth, today. I hope you have a Ninja toothbrush like me. Bye for now!"

Backyard Space Cub

Hi. This is me, Charles the Handsome Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparlkle Road with my buddy, James. That's in Windsor. Windsor is on Ontario. That's in O Canada our home and native land.

Wanna know how I know I'm handsome? Cuz my buddy,  James, says so every day. He hollers, "Who's a handsome bear cub?" and I come running cuz he's gonna tickle my ears and make me laugh right out loud. I'm a Son of Windsor and a Prince of Ontario, too!

Know what? I can swing in the back yard. I can swing really high when James pushes me. I swing so high I'm a Space Cub. I'm the first bear cub to explore outer space. Monkeys and dogs went into space, so why not a bear cub? I'm sure if I get hungry in outer space I would look for space Smarties and space licorice too. I want  James to push me again. I gotta go really high to get into outer space. I bet I can see the whole world from up there. I bet I can see your house.

James says I'm "spacey". I don't know what that means but he says I'll know when I'm older. Know what? My birthday is on Canada Day. Then I will be older and then I will know. Oh. Wait! Maybe I should put on a space suit and a space helmet. Good idea. Okay. I gotta go, now. Bye!

Breakfast

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy  James on Sparkle Road. That's not very far from Sandwich Street. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be really old.

Know what? I'm not having porridge with gummy worms for breakfast 'cuz it's too hot outside to cook. I'm having chocolate milk and wallermelons this morning. Oh. Wait. I got toasts with peanut butter and maple syrup, too.  James makes happy faces in the peanut butter when he spreads it on the toasts.

We thank God for the good food before we eat. This is what I say: "Thank you God for all the good food you put in the Canada Food Guide--except brocollis and sauerkrauts. They're nasty, God. You shouldn't make anybody eat them. Amen." I need to eat all my food 'cuz I'm going to be busy all day.

We're going to the park. I can ride my blue bike with the Canada flag on it, swing and slide and dig holes and climb trees and play Hide & Seek. Then we'll eat a picnic lunch and I'll read my Spiderman book before I take a nap under the big maple tree. On the way home we'll stop at Mary Ann's Bake Shoppe and get brownies. She makes the bestest brownies in the whole wide world. Oh! Wait! I gotta go. The day might start without me! Be a good citizen and make sure someone tickles your ears today. Bye for now. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. Over and out! PS: I forgot. Okay. Bye!

Five

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road.  I look after him so he doesn't get hurt or get into trouble.

Look at me! I'm right next to the number five. That's how old I am. My birthday is on Canada Day. Birthdays are fun. I get birthday cake and presents. I will be five for a whole year.

Next Canada Day I'll be six. I'll be a lot older, then. Oh. Wait. I hear  James hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?"

That's me, Charles! I gotta go. I gotta go get my ears tickled so I can laugh right out loud! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be a good citizen. Learn your numbers. Bye for now!"

My Friend Cassidy

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. Yesterday he lost his balance and fell down. I had to help him up.

Know what? This is my friend Cassidy. He's a bunny rabbit. He lives with Tanner, a big 'ole yeller dog. Bunny rabbits don't eat meat. They're vegetabletarians. They eat vegetables.

Cassidy l-o-v-es brocollis. He says they're yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. I hate brocollis. They taste nasty. Nasty is one of the four food groups, you know. Know what? Rabbits taste good but I don't eat my friends. I don't wanna sit in the Time Out Chair and have to think about my bad behaviour.

Cassidy and me play games. We're gonna play leap frog. I will jump over Cassidy and he will jump over me. It's fun. Gotta go, now. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be a good citizen! Eat your vegetables. Over and out!"

Another Boat Ride!

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with  James on Sparkle Road. He's my buddy. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He remembers the invention of Saran Wrap. He must be really old--maybe 20!

Look at me! I'm on the Senator. That's a boat that goes up and down the Detroit River. I know Captain Bill. I got to eat a hamburger 'cuz they don't have Smarties or licorice. We saw big lake freighters and "salties," too. The Senator goes all the way from Lake St. Clair to the Ambassador Bridge and back. Everybody was real nice. I had lots of fun.

I know! Next time you can come with us, okay? Check it out at www.windsorcruise.com. Oh! Wait! James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles! I gotta go get my ears tickled and my nose kissed. Okay. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Ahoy, matie! All aboard! See you soon. Over and out."

Proud Day

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub.You know me. I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. Today he forgot how to tie his shoes!

Know what? Today is a day to be proud. We get to eat lots of yummy food, wear rainbow colours and be in a parade. I l-o-v-e parades. I wish we could eat parades. I'm sure they would be yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

This me and my friend Tanner. He's a big 'ole yeller dog. See, we're wearing rainbow colours. I asked Tanner why we are only proud one day a year. Tanner says we should be proud every day.  James, my buddy, says the same thing. I'm wearing a Smarties bracelet. It looks nice but I know it tastes good, too. I think I will eat my bracelet.

Oh! Wait! The parade is starting. Tanner and me get to ride in the back seat and wave to everybody. We have to go and be proud, now. This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be proud every day. Oh! If you wave at us, we'll wave back. Bye for now!

The Beach

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy,  James, on Sparkle Road. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He remembers the invention of dirt. Wow! He must be really old--at least 20!

Know what? We went to Pelee Island. We went there on a BIG boat named Jiimaan. The island is a fun place to play. Look at me! I'm on the beach. The water is warm. That's because it's shallow. Did you know the water has a name? It's name is Lake Erie.

James is warm. I bet it's because he's shallow, too. Everyone is wearing swim suits except me. I get to go into the water bare naked. That's a pun. I'm five. I know what puns are. Bear cubs don't need to wear clothes--except sox--I have Cat-in-the-Hat sox. They make me run faster. I'm getting lots of sunshine. Hope I turn really brown! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Come play on the beach with us. Don't forget your towel! Okay! Bye for now! Over and out!

Riding on the Jiimaan

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road. I look after him and keep him out of trouble.

Know what? We went to Pelee Island. The boat is really big. It has a name. The boat's name is Jiimaan. There are lots of ladders on the boat. I could be a sailor, you know. I would be a good sailor because I already know how to climb. It's fun to be way up high and see everyone.

Michelle and Deb are nice ladies. They sell juice boxes. I got apple juice. Apple juice is yummy. Yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. There is a Canada flag on the boat. Know what? I have a Canada flag on my bicycle, too.

Oh! Wait! I can see the island. Land ahoy, citizens! I better get down from here and get ready to explore. I hope there are lions on Pelee Island. I would like to go on a lion hunt. I wanna catch a big 'ole lion. We could be friends. We could eat porridge and gummy worms for breakfast. I would share. Yeah. That's what I will do when I catch me a lion. Okay. I gotta go. I have to get in the car and fasten my seat belt!  This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! Come hunt lions with me on Pelee Island! Over and out!"

Pelee Island

Hi! I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live with my buddy,  James, on Sparkle Road.I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. He forgot what day it is!

Knows what? We're on our way to Pelee Island. Peter and Selena and Jay and D'Andre came, too. My friend Tanner couldn't come. He's a big 'ole yeller dog who lives with Cassidy the bunny. Tanner didn't feel good so he stayed home.

Pelee Island is fun. It is in the middle of Lake Erie. That's a BIG lake. Lakes have names, you know.

Okay. Before we go we have to we eat wallermelons at the Golden Griddle. Then we ride on a boat to get to the island. I helped the workers park the cars on the boat. See? I'm wearing my safety vest. The boat is really big. It has a big loud horn that makes lots of noise. When we get to Pelee Island we will go to a place where they make wine. Wine is for grownups. I'm five. I won't be a grownup for a long time. I drank grape juice. Cubs can drink grape juice. Grape juice is baby wine.

Know what? I saw baby grapes. Lots of them! They taste awful but when they grow up they turn colours and then they taste yummy. Yummy is one of the food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

Wine gets put into barrels. See, I can take them to town.

I gotta go now 'cuz we're having lunch. We're having peanut butter and licorice sandwiches. They're yummy and help you grow big and strong so you can climb things, dig holes in the back yard and ride your bike up and down Sandwich Street with me! Bye for now!

Oh. Wait! Don't ever eat sauerkrauts. They're nasty. Saurkrauts taste worse then brocollis. They don't even taste good with peanut butter or chocolate syrup on them. I would rather sit on the Time Out Chair than eat sauerkrauts. Okay. Gotta go. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Ahoy! Land ahead!  Bye for now!"

New Floor & Saurkrauts

Hi! I'm Charles the Bear Cub.You know me.  I live with my buddy James on Sparkle Road. That's near Olde Sandwich Towne and that's near Windsor. Windsor is in Ontario and Ontario is in O Canada our home and native land.

Know what? I'm helping to make a new floor. Helping is fun. Helpers are good citizens. Good citizens get to eat Smarties. I l-o-v-e Smarties. Smarties are yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

Brocollis are in the Canada Food Guide but they are yucky. Know what else is yucky? Saurkrauts. I don't know how anyone can eat saurkrauts. They are awful! I am sure God didn't mean to make saurkrauts.

Oh! Wait!  James is hollering, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario?" That's me! Charles! I'm a handsome bear cub. I'm a Son of Windsor. I'm a Prince of Ontario! I gotta go! I'll find him and he'll tickle my ears, kiss my nose and make me laugh right out loud! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Help your buddies and friends and neighbours. Eat Smarties but eat the red ones last! Bye for now! Over and out!

Fire Hydrants

Hi. I'm Charles. I'm a handsome bear cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James.

Know what? I know what fire hydrants are for. They are for my dog friends, so they can go to the washroom. My friend Tanner told me that. He's a big 'ole yeller dog who lives with Cassidy the bunny rabbit.

Know what else? Sometimes there is a fire and the fire fighters hook their hoses up to the fire hydrant and spray everything with water. That is a fun way to take a bath. I wanna ride on a fire truck. I want to make the lights flash and make the siren sound really loud. I could be a fire righter, you know.

Oh! Wait! I can ride up and down the sidewalk on my blue bike with the Canada flag on it. I can make the siren sound. Okay! I gotta go play fire truck! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Have fun when you play! Bye for now!"

Visiting the Dentist

Hi. This is me. Charles the Handsome Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20!

Every day James hollers, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Who's a Son of Windsor? Who's a Prince of Ontario? That's me! Charles!  I come running to get my ears tickled and my nose kissed.

Know what? I am at Dr. Gregg's office. He's a dentist. That's a tooth doctor. I'm gonna get my teeth checked. I brush my teeth every day with my Ninja toothbrush. Don't eat toothpaste, okay. It's not in the Canada Food Guide, you know.

Dr. Gregg has a sign that says, "Be true to your teeth or they will be false to you." I know what that means.  James has teeth that come out at night. They are false teeth. They didn't lie or anything, they're just false. I sure hope Dr. Gregg gives me a new Ninja toothbrush. Oh! Wait! Maybe he will give me some licorice. No! Wait! Gummy worms. Yeah. I hope he gives me gummy worms. The lady is calling my name. Okay. I gotta go, now. Bye!

Crossing the Street

Hi. I'm Charles the Handsome Bear Cub. You know me!  I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James.  I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. He could walk in front of a bus and get hurt!

We cross the street. It's busy. We look both ways and make sure nothing is coming before we start. I tell my buddy to take my paw and hold onto it when we walk. I don't want him to get hit by a bus.

If that happened, who would holler, "Who's a handsome bear cub? Where's my Son of Windsor? Where's my Prince of Ontario?" There would be no one to say that to me anymore and no one to tickle my ears, kiss my nose and make me laugh right out loud. That would be awful! Be good citizens. Look after your friends and buddies when you cross the street.  Gotta go now. Bye! Over and out!"

Peanut Butter

Hi. I'm Charles the Handsome Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He's older than peanut butter. That must be really old.

Know what? I'm at Westside Foods. I'm gonna put all this peanut butter in this buggy and take it home. I know things about peanut butter.

1. Peanut butter comes from little bear cubbies. It is squeezed right out of them. See the sign? It says, "Squeeze."
2. Peanut butter is sticky. Sticky is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.
3. Peanut butter makes good paw paint and we can eat it, too.
4. I always make peanut butter happy faces on my pancakes.
5. NEVER fall asleep in bed with an open jar of peanut butter.
6. I know how to make peanut butter and orange juice sandwiches.

That's what I know about peanut butter. Now I'm gonna go find my buddy James and see if we can go down to the Detroit River and watch the ducks. Maybe we can feed them peanut butter! Yeah! Okay! I gotta go! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Take peanut butter to the ducks when you go to the river. Bye for now! Over and out!"
