Breakfast is Important

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him remember.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? Chance and me are eating breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If we don't eat breakfast we can get cranky. Chance is a wee little thing. He doesn't have any teeth. He can only drink condensed owls' milk out of his bottle. Before we eat, we say grace. I tell God  'thank you' for the good food. Chance doesn't talk yet so he can't pray but when I say 'amen' he makes a little squeaky noise.' That means he's happy.

I get to eat porridge for breakfast. I l-o-v-e porridge. It's yummy and yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. James says that porridge is full of protein and fibre. He says growing bear cubs like me need all the protein and fibre I can get. I like porridge with gummy worms in it. Sometimes James puts Smarties in my porridge instead of gummy worms.

I put peanut butter  on my toast sometimes. I can make pictures in the peanut butter. Sometimes I draw happy faces in the peanut butter. Happy food tastes better, you know. Today, James drew sunshine on my peanut butter toast.  I like Kraft peanut butter 'cuz it's got pictures of bear cubs on the bottle.

Oh, wait!  I drink apple juice, too.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Eat breakfast. Do good deeds. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can have fun together! Okay! Over and out!"

Things I know About Art

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. He says he's older than dirt. That must be really old, like 20!

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? I'm hangin' around. I'm thinking about art. Chance and me are artists. We paint pictures of ourselves and sell them. Then we take the money to Mac's Milk and we buy gummy worms and Smarties. Sometimes we get root beer. I l-o-v-e gummy worms and Smarties and root beer! They're yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

When we were in Toronto, Chance and James and me visited the Art Gallery of Ontario They got art everywhere! Art is to look at. I could be an artist, you know. I go to the Scruffy Maple Day Care Centre in Windsor. Miss Jackie teaches us about art and famous artists like Vincent Van Goo and Laura Secord and Sidney Crosby.

Artists paint with different things like oil paint or acrylics. Miss Jackie says they're called mediums. I have a favourite medium. I like to paint with peanut butter. It's the bestest medium of all. If I get as  hungry as a bear, I can eat some while I paint.  James says I can only paint on paper or canvas. One time I painted a peanut butter picture on the kitchen wall. It was a nice picture of our family. That's James and Chance and me. James said we don't paint pictures on the walls.  I had to sit on the Time Out Chair and think about painting on paper instead of the wall.

Oh.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Enjoy art. Art is everywhere. Become an artist. Artists are good citizens. Artists get to eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and paint with us! We can be the Group of Seven! Okay! Over and out!"

Peanut Butter

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, Grandpa James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know.  I help look after him.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's so newborn he doesn't even have any teeth, yet! Chance is a handful!

Know what? I'm eating peanut butter. I'm eating it right out of the jar.  I l-o-v-e peanut butter. Peanut butter is good for growing bear cubs like me. There's even a picture of the Kraft bear cubs on the jar!  I know where peanut butter comes from. Peanut butter comes from peanuts. Peanuts grow in Alberta. That's way far away from Olde Sandwich Towne. There are two kinds of peanut butter, you know. There's smooth and there's crunchy. Wait! I don't know which one I like better, so I'll just have to eat them both.

I don't know where Chance is. He's hiding. He wants to play Hide and Seek. I don't want to play Hide and Seek. Chance isn't very good at Hide and Seek. He thinks when he closes his eyes he's invisible but he's not.

I want to eat peanut butter. Chance is too newborn to eat peanut butter. He doesn't have any teeth. He doesn't even have a tail, yet! Chance  just drinks chocolate owls' milk out of his bottle.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? Grandpa James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find Grandpa James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Be kind to friends and neighbours. Eat peanut butter every day so you can grow strong.  Oh! Wait! Come over to our house! We can eat peanut butter together! Okay! Over and out!"
