Eating Dinner at the Man Yuen Restaurant

Chance and me love to eat Szechwan food. My favouritest food is General Tao's chicken. I hope I meet him one day and thank him for his chicken. It's yummy and that's one of the four food groups in Canada's Food Guide.
Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, Grandpa James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Guess where we are? We're at Man Yuen Restaurant. They make Chinese food. It's so yummy! Man Yuen is on Sandwich Street in Olde Sandwich Towne. That's in Windsor. I know where Windsor is. It's in O Canada. We can walk to Man Yuen from our house. I l-o-v-e to eat at Man Yuen. I like everything.

I know how to use chopsticks. Chopsticks are fun. I use them instead of a fork. We learned how to use chopsticks at the Scruffy Maple Day Care Centre. Miss Sephorah is our teacher. She knows everything! I will tell you a secret. I think Miss Sephorah might be a princess.

Chance is so newborn he doesn't have any teeth. He just drinks chocolate owls' milk from his bottle.

Miss Flora is our server. Servers have very important jobs. They bring us food to eat. Miss Flora brings us egg foo yong.

We eat and eat and eat. That's 'cuz we're hungry as bears. Grandpa James says, "Slow down, Charles! My dear! Mind your manners, my son! Don't wolf your food down." Grandpa James says silly things sometimes. I'm not a wolf. I'm a bear cub!

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? Grandpa James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find Grandpa James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Pick up trash and garbage. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can go to Man Yuen and say "Hi!" to Flora and Dave, too! Okay! Over and out!"

When we eat at Man Yuen we always say "Hi!" to Dave. I think he's a boss.

Lunch at Sky Dragon and the Scarlet Ibis

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. He climbs way high and then he can't get down. Chance makes little squawky noises when he's afraid. I have to help him get down. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

When we go to Toronto, we get to eat at the Scarlet Ibis. It's one of our favouritest places to eat. The Pink Ibis has West Indian food. When we go there I'm as hungry as a bear. Know what? I l-o-v-e to eat roti. It's yum-O-liscious, you know. I like to drink mango juice, too. Chance likes sorel juice. He's so newborn he isn't very good at drinking juice with a straw. He really needs his bottle.

Another yummy place to eat is the Sky Dragon. Sky Dragon in Chinatown. Here we are with Nana Lizbeth. Nana Lizbeth is very smart. She knows how to eat with chopsticks. She taught me how to eat with chopsticks instead of a fork. Know what? Chance is too little to eat food 'cuz he doesn't have any teeth, yet. He just drinks green tea.

Chinese food tastes better when you eat it with chopsticks. We get to eat Dim Sum. I like the dumplings and pot stickers best of all.

Dim Sum is yummy. It works like this. The ladies come around with food on little carts and announce the food. We get to choose what we want to eat. Some of the nice ladies tweak our ears and kiss our noses, too.

Oh! We get to drink green tea, too. Green tea is good for you. It's important to drink green tea when you go to Sky Dragon for Dim Sum. Green tea is in Canada's Food Guide.

James says, "Now boys, Mind your manners. Don't eat like pigs." We're not pigs! We're bear cubs. He says, "Don't wolf your food." James is very silly. Anyone can see we're bear cubs, not wolves.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Be kind to neighbours and friends. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can go to the Pink Ibis and Sky Dragon together! Okay! Over and out!"

Playing the Piano

I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? I'm playing the piano. I know songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and My Hat it Had Three Corners. I like to play the piano. I practise playing the scales. I could be a concert pianists, you know. Chance turns the pages for me. He's my helper. Sometimes he forgets to help and tries to eat the sheet music! We're not supposed to eat paper. It's not in the Canada Food Guide.

Sometimes Chance plays with me. We play Chopsticks and Heart and Soul. James says when two play the piano at the same time it's called a duet. Chance isn't very good yet, but he's just a wee little cubby and he'll get better, I know. Chance loves to play the piano. He makes little squeaky noises. That means he's happy.

Oh.

Learn to play the piano. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play the piano with us! We can make music together! Okay! Over and out!"
