Fun Things to Do on Civic Holiday

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? Today is Civic Holiday all across the province. It's a nice day to play and go on a picnic. Chance and me are having fun we look into the mirror and make faces. I know how to make the very scariest of faces. They make Chance squeak right out loud. Whoever laughs first is the loser. It's a fun game to play, you know.

Sometimes James says, "Boys! Go outside and see if you're there." We run outside to play in the back yard. There are lots of things to do in the back yard. We can dig holes. We can climb the sugar maple. We can take our space ray guns and hunt for lions, too. Oh. We can ride up and down the sidewalk on my blue bike with the Canada flag on it.

We get to eat lunch outside. I l-o-v-e eating outdoors. James says food tastes better when we eat it outside. We had Smarties and root beer. Oh, wait! We had peanut butter and licorice sandwiches, too. They're all yummy and yummy is one of the four good groups in the Canada Food Guide.

After lunch we got to ride in the rocking chair and then we took our naps on the living room floor, right in front of the TV fire. Chance falls asleep real fast and makes little snory noises. He's so cute when he sleeps.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens on Civic Holiday Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can pick play together! Okay! Over and out!"

Our Fountain

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know.

Oh! Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? Chance and me are playing at our fountain. The fountain is right in front of Canada Post. That's by our house on the corner of Mill Street and Sandwich Street.  We love to play in the water and get all wet. That's a good thing to do on a hot summer day. James says it's 31C outside. That's hot enough to melt chocolate bars. When it's that hot, it's time to climb into the fountain and cool off.

Sometimes we play with our space ray guns that we got at the Mill Dollar Store. We use them mostly to hunt lions in the back yard but sometimes we fill them up with water and squirt each other with them. Chance isn't a very good squirter but he's just a newborn cubby. He thinks he's invisible when he closes his eyes!

We're not supposed to squirt people who are walking by the fountain. Good citizens don't do that. Good citizens are polite. Best of all, good citizens get to eat gummy worms in their porridge and they get to eat Smarties and drink root beer, too. I l-o-v-e Smarties and root beer. They're yummy and Yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

Oh.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Don't squirt people with your space ray gun. Be polite. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can splash in the fountain together! Okay! Over and out!"

Summer is Here!

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him remember. I reminded him that Summer came today.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Summer is here! Summer came at 7.25 this morning. I got up real early so I could see Summer come! I'm so glad Summer is here. We get to do lots of fun things now that Summer is here. Know what? Chance was born in October so he missed Summer last year.

Okay. Know what I'm doing? I'm making a list. This is an important list. This is a list of things Chance and James and me want to do this Summer. Ready?

1. Hunt lions in the back yard with our space ray guns.
2. Pick fruit off the trees and eat it.
3. Lay on the grass and watch the clouds go by.
4. Ride on the MV Jiimaan  to Pelee Island .

5. Swim in Lake Erie and have lots of picnics, too!
6. Climb trees with our buddy, Queen Elizabeth.
7.Go on VIA Rail to visit our friends and buddies in Quebec.
8. Cook yummy food on the barbecue.
9. Eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Wallermellon!
10. Ride our bikes up and down Sandwich Street. Oh, and make really loud siren noises, too!

I'm sure there's lots of  other stuff we want to do with Summer but I'm tired of thinking. I want to go play. We're gonna go pick cherries! I l-o-v-e cherries. They're yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

Oh.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Have lots of fun with Summer! Eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us! We can have fun with Summer together! Okay! Over and out!"

Easter!

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him remember. He forgot it was Easter! Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? We're sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap. I asked the Easter Bunny if I could have thumbs so I can hold my sippy cup in one paw instead of two. I asked the Easter Bunny if Chance could have teeth so he can eat Smarties with me.

I know the Easter story. It's in the Bible. Jesus is the Son of God. He died on a cross so we could be forgiven for the bad things we did. That's terrible. That's even worse than when I have to sit on the Time Out Chair. Jesus was very brave. He died on Friday and slept all day on Sabbath. Jesus woke up on Sunday morning 'cuz he had to go back to work.

We're going to go on an Easter egg hunt with Lulu and Ella. They're our buddies. They came to our house for Easter. We're gonna take our space ray guns we got from the dollar store to help us find the eggs.

Oh. Then we can go outside and hunt for Easter eggs.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Hoppy Easter every bunny!"
