Colouring Book

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, Special Ed James. He rides to school on a short bus, so I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? Chance and me got a colouring book at the Sandwich Community Health Centre. The doctors and nurses are nice. Everyone is nice even if we got got Austrian measles. We had to get shots. Shots hurt. Chance cried and made squawky noises. I only cried a little bit. I l-o-v-e to colour. I have crayons. I know how to colour inside of the lines. Chance is too little to know how to colour. Know what? He tries to eat the crayons. We can't eat crayons. They're not in the Canada Food Guide. I say, "My son! Take that out of your mouth!" I have to watch him all the time. Chance is a handful, you know.

This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! If you are good citizens you might get a colouring book of your own from the Sandwich Community Health Centre.

Sandwich Community Health Centre

Know what? We're at the Sandwich Community Health Centre. It's where we go when we're sick. We got Austrian measles. We have to have shots. Shots hurt. Chance cried and made squawky noises. I only cried a little bit. It stopped hurting right away. We got pretty stickers 'cuz we are very brave bear cubs.

Be good citizens and don't cry a lot when you have to get a shot. Good citizens get stickers. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, Ouch! That hurts! Bye for now!

Austrian Measles Day Three

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. He is forgetful and old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. Good thing he wasn't on the Titanic!  I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? Chance and me are sick. We don't like being sick. Chance and me are all covered in red spots. We don't want to dig holes in the back yard or ride our bikes up and down Sandwich Street. We don't want anything to eat, not even porridge with gummy worms or Smarties. We're burning up with fever. James thinks we might have Austrian measles. Bear cubs get Austrian measles, you know. He is going to take us to the Sandwich Community Health Centre so Dr. Matthew can look at us.

This is me, Charles the very sick Bear Cub. After I drink some Canada Dry, I'm going back to sleep. So is Chance. Bye for now and stay away from Austrian and his measles. Over and zzzzzzz.

Sick Day

Know what? We don't feel very good. Chance is hot. I am hot. Special Ed James took our temperature. He says we have fevers. I don't like fevers. They make me feel awful. My tummy hurts. Chance throwed up. I'm dizzy, like when we spin the big green comfy old man chair in the living room. Special Ed James gave us Canada Dry to drink. I drank mine out of my Spiderman sippy cup. Chance drank his out of a bottle. He's too little for a sippy cup. We had to swallow a pill for the fever. If we don't feel better soon, Special Ed James says we will go to the Sandwich Community Health Centre and see Nurse Megan and Dr. Blanchard.

Special Ed James is whispering, "Where's my sick bear cubs?" That's us, Charles and Chance. He tucks us into bed and is going to hold us tight until we fall asleep. This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Don't get sick. It's not fun at all."
