It's Raining, It's Pouring

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. He's so old he says he remembers the first time it ever rained!

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. Now, he's my little brother. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? It's raining. James says it's raining cats and dogs but he's being silly. I'm five. I know that cats and dogs don't fall out of the sky. Just water. Kyle and Chance and me are watching the Weather Network to find out when the rain will stop and we can go outside and dig holes in the back yard.

I know a song about rain.

It's raining, it's pouring,
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed and he bumped his head,
And he couldn't get up in the morning.
Rain, rain,
Go away!
Come again some other day!
THE END.

I know what we can do! We can get some pots and pans and spoons from the kitchen. We can make a rock band. We can sing songs until the rain stops! Yeah. That's a fun thing to do! I know lots of songs. Miss Jackie teaches us songs. She's my teacher at the Scruffy Maple Day Care Centre. Chance doesn't really sing but he makes little squeaky noises when he's happy.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Find fun things to do indoors when it's rainy outside. It's a good time to eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to Kyle's house and play with us! You can be in our rock band! Okay! Over and out!"

Chance's Favouritest Song

Hi. This is my baby brother, Chance. He's a newborn cubby someone left on our doorstep. I look after him. He's really tiny but he's a real handful. You know me.  I'm Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him remember things. Today he forgot where he left his bicycle!

Chance is so little he doesn't have any teeth. He only drinks condensed owls' milk out of a bottle. He can't talk, yet. He likes to rip off his diaper and climb things. He makes little squeaky noises when he's happy and little squawky noises when he's hungry or afraid or has poo in his diaper.

Chance has a favourite song. It's He's Got the Whole World in His Hands. When Chance hears it he bounces up and down and makes squeaky noises. That's 'cuz he's really happy.

He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the wind and the rain in his hands [Repeat 3x]
He's got the whole world in his hands
He's got the sun and the moon . . .
He's got the little bitty baby . . .
He's got you and me brother . . .
He's got everybody here . . .

Oh. We can get out some pots and pans and wooden spoons and sing. We're the Band of Brothers, you know.

This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! Sing out loud and make people smile. Good citizens get to eat Smarties and drink root beer and play Space Invaders. I know! Come to our house and sing with us! Over and out!"

Feeling Good, Feeling Fine

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. He is forgetful and pretty old. He says he was the second Canadian to get off of Noah's Ark. I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? We had the Austrian measles. We were really sick. We had BIG red spots all over. We went to the Sandwich Community Health Centre. We got shots. Shots hurt. We didn't cry very much. We got Sponge Bob Square Pants stickers 'cuz we're very brave bear cubs.

Now we feel good. We're feeling fine. We are playing Rock Star. We know some songs like, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Chance is too little to sing. He doesn't even talk! He likes to bang on the saucepan. He's good at it. Chance has a favourite song. He likes the song Five Bear Cubs Lying in the Bed. When I holler, "Roll over! Roll Over," Chance does a somersault. He's a handful! Here's Chance's favourite song. Ready?

Five bear cubs lying in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over!"
"Roll over!"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Four bear cubs lying in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over!"
"Roll over!"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Three bear cubs lying in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over!"
"Roll over!"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Two bear cubs lying in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over!"
"Roll over!"
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

One bear cub lying in the bed and the little one said,
"Alone at last!"

THE END!

Rock Band

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He is old and forgetful. I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? We're rock stars. We got our own band. Pots and wooden spoons make good instruments. I sing songs and Chance makes squeaky noises. We know lots of songs like Sally Go 'Round the Sun, The Prune Song, The Smarties Song and the Army Song Oh! Wait! We can sing it for you!

They say that in the army
The food is mighty fine
A pea rolled off the table
And killed a friend of mine.

Oh I don't want no more of army life
Gee Ma, I want to go
Back to Ontario
Gee Ma, I want to go home.

They say that in the Army
The Jeeps are mighty fine
They go around the corner
And leave the wheels behind.

Oh I don't want no more of Army life
Gee Ma, I want to go
Back to Ontario
Gee Ma, I want to go home.

Did you hear that? It'sJames. He's hollering, "Attention all handsome bear cubs! Attention all Sons of Windsor! Attention you Princes of Ontario!  Roll call!" He means us, Charles and Chance. We're gonna go find him and let him tickle our ears and kiss our noses. James gives the bestest hugs. Know what? We're having Red River Cereal for breakfast. I l-o-v-e Red River Cereal, 'specially with gummy worms in it.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Eat a good breakfast so you can be good citizens all day long. Eat all of it. Starving children in Belgium would love to have Red River Cereal!  Over and out!"

Rock Stars

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He is old and forgest things, like where we live.   I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after him, too.

Know what? We're rock stars. We're in a band. I got some pots and pans and wooden spoons out of the cupboard. I'm teaching Chance how to play the drums. He has trouble holding the wooden spoon but he'll get better. We're singing my favouritest song, Rubber Ducky.
I like being a rock star. I can sing real loud. Chance is too little to sing but he makes happy little squeaky noises.  James says, "Keep it down to a dull roar, my sons." When we're done being rock stars we can have root beer. I l-o-v-e root beer. It's yummy and yummy is one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

I sure hope you have a rock band and you can drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Did you hear that?  James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs? Where are the sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario?" That's us! Charles and Chance. We gotta go get our ears tickled so we can laugh right out loud. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Make a rock band and sing nice songs. Over and out!"
