Pufferbelly

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. He says he's older than VIA Rail! That must be really old. I'm sure James must be at least 20!

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? We're at Kiddie World. That's a fun place to go. They have lots and lots of rides for kids and bear cubs, too. I'm the engineer on this puffer belly. That's another word for train. I say, "All aboard!" Everyone sits down and I drive the train around on the track. Chance is the conductor. He's supposed to help but he's really little and forgets. He just takes off his diaper and climbs all over on everything. I have to keep an eye on him so he doesn't fall and hurt himself.

I know a song about the train. Miss Jackie taught it to us at the Scruffy Maple Day Care Centre.

Down By the Station
Down by the station early in the morning,
See the little puffer bellies all in a row.
See the engine driver pull the little throttle:
Puff, Puff, Toot! Toot! Off we go!

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that?  James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens and don't pollute the earth. Walk, ride your bike and take VIA Rail. Good citizens get to Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Good citizens get to ride on puffer bellies. Come over to our house and play with us! We can ride the train together! Okay! Puff! Puff! Toot! Toot! All aboard! Over and out!"

Riding on the Train

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. He is very forgetful, so I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? Chance and James and me got up really early this morning. It's dark outside at four o'clock. We went to the train station. We got on the train. It's a really nice train. Trains are faster than my bicycle. We had fun talking to people. The food is yummy, too. We got to drink milk with a bendy straw! We took a nap. When we woke up it was time to say 'good-bye' to everyone. We got pictures but we can't put them here until we get home. James says the little cord doesn't fit between the camera and the computer. That's okay.

James says we can all go outside and make snow persons. I can't wait to play in the snow. Chance will make squeaky noises if he's happy. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Ride VIA Rail and see where the train takes you! Over and out!"

The Big Train Trip

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He is old and forgetful. He loses things, too. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark.  I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after him, too.

Know what? We're going on a trip. We're going to Toronto on the train. We're helping James pack. I put peanut butter and Smarties in the suitcase. Don't tell anybody but I took out the brocollis. They're nasty and I hate them. I put in my space ray gun. I sure hope there are lions in Toronto. I want to go on a lion hunt and catch a lion. That would be fun. We got headphones so we can watch movies on the train. We can watch Gumby and Pokey on the train. We can buy pop on the train. I l-o-v-e root beer. Okay. I'm helping buy our tickets.  James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario?" That's us, Charles and Chance. We'd better go find him so he can tickle our ears and make us laugh right out load. We'll be home on Saturday so, 'til then, this is me Charles the Bear Cub saying, "All aboard! Over and out!"
