Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him remember things. He forgot to make us breakfast! Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? We're looking at pictures. In February we made snow persons. We can't do that now 'cuz there's no more snow. The grass is green and the flowers and trees are waking up from a long winter's nap. That's what James says. I don't know where the snow went. James says it will come back soon enough. I think the snow is taking a long summer nap.

When there's no snow we climb trees and dig holes in the back yard. We ride our bikes up and down Sandwich Street and make siren noises. We pick up trash. We go on lion hunts with our space ray guns we got at the dollar store. We eat mulberries right off the trees. We can wait for the snow to come back.

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario? That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed. We're having peanut butter and licorice sandwiches for lunch. I l-o-v-e them. They're yummy and that's one of the food groups in the Canada Food Guide.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Enjoy spring. Play outside in the sunshine. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play with us!  Okay! Over and out!"

Family Day

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He forgets where he put his mitts. He's really old, too. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20 years old!  I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? Today is Family Day. It's a holiday. I know what a family is. It's me and Chance and James and you. Families do things together like make gingerbread beings and snow people. We read books together. Families laugh together and before bedtime we pray together. Families give each other lots of hugs and kisses on our noses and give us Buckley's Cough Mixture when we're sick with a cold. Buckley's tastes awful, but it works.  Families share wallermelons and Smarties and everything!

Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Who's my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario?" That's us! Charles and Chance. I'm a handsome bear cub!  I'm a Son of Windsor. I'm a Prince of Ontario! So is Chance! We'll go find  James and he can tickle our ears and kiss our noses! We gotta go! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! Be nice to your family! Do something special for Family Day. Over and out!"

Home Sweet Home!

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's very forgetful, so I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? We rode in the train all day. We played games and ate lots of yummy food. The people at VIA Rail are very nice. We got to drink milk with bendy straws. Chance and me got sleepy, so we took naps. When we woke up, we were home in Windsor. It's fun to travel and see our friends but it sure is nice to be home and sleep in our own beds. We got lots of snow in Windsor. We can go outside and make snow persons! Oh, wait. We have to unpack our suitcases, first. Chance is hiding in my suitcase. He thinks he will surprise me. I will pretend to be surprised. We have to put away our things. We'll have some pictures to put up here, soon.

Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs?" That's us! Charles and Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're gonna go find  James so he can tickle our ears and hug us and kiss our noses, too. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! Take time to make a snow person today. Over and out!"

Riding on the Train

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy James. He is very forgetful, so I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Know what? Chance and James and me got up really early this morning. It's dark outside at four o'clock. We went to the train station. We got on the train. It's a really nice train. Trains are faster than my bicycle. We had fun talking to people. The food is yummy, too. We got to drink milk with a bendy straw! We took a nap. When we woke up it was time to say 'good-bye' to everyone. We got pictures but we can't put them here until we get home. James says the little cord doesn't fit between the camera and the computer. That's okay.

James says we can all go outside and make snow persons. I can't wait to play in the snow. Chance will make squeaky noises if he's happy. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Ride VIA Rail and see where the train takes you! Over and out!"

Sometimes Thinking is Fun

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He forgets things like his keys and his mitts. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark!  I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Chance thinks he's hiding from me 'cuz he's hiding his eyes and he can't see me. Know what? I can see him. He's in the corner! He's making little squeaky noises, so I know he's happy. When he makes squawky noises, he's hungry or upset or his diaper is full of poo. Chance takes his diaper off all the time. He really is a handful, you know!

I'm sitting on the chesterfield. It's comfy. Know what I'm doing here? I'm thinking. Thinking on the chesterfield is not the same as when I have sit on the Time Out Chair and think. That's where I have to think about my behaviour. Thinking on the chesterfield is nice. I'm thinking about what we're going to do today. Maybe we will go outside and play in the snow. We can make snow people and snow angels. We can build a fort and throw snowballs. Know what? Chance eats the snow.  James says the snow is dirty and it's not in the Canada Food Guide. It looks nice and white. Snow tastes yummy but not as yummy as orange sherbet.

Oh! Wait! Did you hear that?  James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs? Come here my Sons of Windsor! Come here my Princes of Ontario.  Who wants cocoa with marshmallows and gingerbread beings?" That's us! Charles and Chance. We're handsome cubs. We're Sons of Windsor, too!  want cocoa. We l-o-v-e cocoa. We love gingerbread beings. Well, I do. Chance just licks them. Okay! We gotta go find James so he can tickle our ears and our tummies and kiss our noses. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens! Don't eat things that aren't in the Canada Food Guide. Drink your cocoa and eat your gingerbread beings so you can grow up to be strong and healthy like us! Bye for now! Over and out!"
