Chance Takes a Bath

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, Special Ed James. He rides to school on a short bus, so I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

Chance climbed into the kitchen sink. He wants his bath. He wants me to get in with him. I used to get my bath in the sink when I was a wee little cubby but now I'm too big! That's 'cuz I'm five. I'm a growing bear cub. Bear cubs need to eat lots of good foods to be strong and healthy. I know the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. There is yummy, sticky, sweet and nasty. I don't like broccolis. They're nasty. I hate sauerkrauts, too.

Know what? I like porridge with gummy worms in it. That's yummy! Chance doesn't have any teeth. He drinks out of a bottle. I don't. I have a sippy cup with Spiderman on it.
When I grow up I want to be a superhero. I know! could be Bathman!

It's fun to help Chance take a bath. I hear Special Ed James hollering, "Ho! Ho! Ho! Where's my handsome bear cubs? Who needs a bath?" That's me! I'm a handsome bear cub! Chance is a handsome bear cub, too!

We're gonna put another sticker on the calendar. It's only 11 days before Santa and Merry Christmas come to our house! This is Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Good-bye for now! Be good citizens and take a bath! Over and out!"

Eating at Kokoro

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. I look after him 'cuz he's really old and forgetful. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I'm sure he's 20. That's really, really old.   Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing and doesn't even talk. I look after him, too.

Know what? We're at Kokoro. That's the Japanese restaurant on Mill Street. I l-o-v-e Japanese food. It's yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. Chance likes Japanese food, too. He gets to drink miso soup out of his bottle. He can hold a spoon but he's not very good at it. He spills soup all over himself.

We'll have to give him a bath when we get home. Bath time is fun. I get to take a bath, too. We splash in the water and have fun. I have purple bubble soap and rubber duckies and a fire truck. I sure hope you can come to Kokoro and eat with us some time. That would be really fun! Maybe Chance will splash you with miso soup and you can come home and have a bath with us!

Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs? What happened to the Sons of Windsor? Where are  you my Princes of Ontario?" That's me! I'm a handsome bear cub. I'm a Son of Windsor. I'm a Prince of Ontario. So is Chance! Okay. we gotta go. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying Sayanara--that's Japanese for 'good-bye!'

Bath Time & Bedtime

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20! I'm five, you know. My birthday is on Canada Day.

Oh, Wait!  I found a newborn cubby on the doorstep. He lives with us, too. He's really tiny. His name is Chance cuz every time I used to ask if I could have a little brother, James would say, "Fat chance Charles, you're a handful!"

Every night Chance and me get into the bathtub and James scrubs us down. We l-o-v-e to play in the tub. We make purple bubbles with our bubble bath. I share my firetruck, my rubber duckies and my boat with Chance. Sharing is what good citizens do.

Good citizens get to eat Smarties and wallermelon. When we're done with our baths,  James dries us off and reads us a bedtime story. Then we say our prayers. Chance doesn't pray. He's too little to talk. He  makes squeaky noises when he's happy.  James tucks us into bed. He says, "Good night my handsome bear cubs. Good night my Sons of Windsor. Good night my Princes of Ontario. Then we fall asleep.

Know what? We have a Spiderman nightlight in case we wake up in the dark. Bath time and bedtime are the bestest part of the day! I'm awful sleepy, so good-night. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Things I Know About Newborn Cubbies

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. Someone left a newborn cubby on our doorstep. I hope we can keep him. I asked God for a baby brother. I think God put cubby on our doorstep. He's like that you know.

I know things about our newborn cubby. He can't eat Smarties cuz he doesn't have any teeth, yet. He drinks condensed owls' milk out of a bottle and he's always hungry. I smush up Smarties and put them in his milk. Oh. Wait! How will he drink the red ones last? When he's not hungry he sleeps and poos. I help change his diapers. They're stinky. Cubby is really tiny. He doesn't have a tail. He will grow a tail but he won't grow pockets or thumbs. I can hold cubby in one paw. I hold him up in the kitchen sink while James gives him a bath. Cubby laughs and splashes in the water. I let him play with my yellow ducks. Cubby can't talk, you know. We nap together. He licks my nose. It tickles.

Know what? Cubby doesn't have a name. I sure hope we find one for him. Oh. Wait! I know! You can tell me what name you want cubby to have! Yeah! Good idea! Okay. The winner can ride my blue bike up and down Sandwich Street and help me dig holes in the backyard and we can play with cubby, too! This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying 'over and out!'

More Newborn Cubby Pictures

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. I live with my buddy,  James on Sparkle Road.

Look at me! These are pictures of me when I was just a newborn cubby! I was really tiny. James says I tried to climb up on the pot and I fell into the porridge. I didn't know I liked porridge when I was a cubby. I bet a needed a bath after that! I used to bath in the kitchen sink but now I'm too big for that.

Know what? I don't wear diapers anymore. That's because I'm five. Cubs don't need diapers when they're five. My birthday is on Canada Day. We get fireworks and wallermelons.

I should have a baby brother. Yeah. I'm gonna ask if we can get me a brother. I wonder where they come from. Maybe we can get one at Simpson-Sears. No. Wait. Zeller's. We got lots of Club Z points. Or, we can get me a baby brother on the Internet. Yeah!

We're having porridge for breakfast with gummy worms. I can smell it. It smells good. l-o-v-e gummy worms. They're yummy and that's one of the four food groups in the Canada Food Guide. I'm going to eat all my porridge but I'm not going to fall in the pot! If I had a baby brother I'd teach him how to eat porridge and Smarties. Okay, I gotta go eat. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying 'Over and out!"
