Fun Time on the Bed

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know.

Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

Know what? At night time our bed is for sleeping. We say our prayers, then James reads us our bedtime story. He's reading Snow Treasure. It's an exciting story about very brave boys and girls in Norway. Norway is pretty far from our house. We can't even get there on VIA Rail. After that, we're pretty sleepy so we curl up and fall fast asleep until the sun wakes us up. James says we're getting our beauty nap. He's silly. I'm handsome all the time, not just after sleeping, you know.

In the daytime, the bed is a good place to play games. Look at us! We're playing on the bed. It's lots of fun, you know. Chance and me know lots of good games to play on the bed, like Hide Under the Covers and I'm Gonna Get You! and Tickle Me.

One of our bestest games is Pillow Fort. We pile up all the pillows on the bed and hide in them and James throws sox at us. We duck and grab the sox and throw them back at him. Chance tries to throw sox but he's really little. He gets excited and makes little squeaky noises. That's 'cuz he's happy and he doesn't know how to talk, yet.

Another fun game is Cirque du Soleil We play acrobats. I know how to balance Chance on my feet, way high in the air! Chance loves to play Cirque du Soleil. Me too. We are pretty good at being performers.

After we play, we're all tuckered out, so we just lay on the pillows. I tell Chance stories about the Olden Days when I was a wee little cubby. I'm five, you know and my birthday is on Canada Day. I remember lots of stuff from the Olden Days, don't you?

Oh. Wait! Did you hear that? James is hollering, "Where are my handsome bear cubs? Where are my Sons of Windsor? Where are my Princes of Ontario?

That's me! Charles! That's Chance! We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario! We gotta go find James so we can get our ears tickled and our noses kissed.

This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Obey the rules. Mind your manners and be on your best behaviour. Then you can eat Smarties and drink root beer. Oh! Wait! Come over to our house and play on the bed with us! We can make a big pillow fort! Okay! Over and out!"

Bedtime Prayers

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. He's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark, you know. I help him. This morning he put a bottle of soap in the fridge! Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after Chance, too. He's a handful!

We sure had fun today. We climbed trees . We dug holes in the back yard. We rode our bikes up and down Sandwich Street and made siren sounds. We ate Smarties and gummy worms and peanut butter. We played with Uncle Darryl and Auntie Alexandria.

Now we're really tired and it's time to go to sleep. We ate our dinner and we had our baths. Now we're saying goodnight to God and we're going to go to Sleepy Town. I say, "Thank you God for all my friends and buddies. Thank you for all the food groups in the Canada Food Guide, except the nasty foods, God. Thank you for James and Chance. Oh. Wait! Thank you for my Cat-in-the-Hat sox, too. Amen." Amen means over and out.

Know what? Chance doesn't pray. He's too little to talk. He makes squeaky noises. I'm sure God knows what they mean. We're really sleepy.

James hugs us and kisses our noses and says, "Good-night my handsome bear cubs. Good-night my Sons of Windsor. Good-night my Princes of Ontario. That's me. Charles. That's Chance. We're handsome bear cubs. We're Sons of Windsor and Princes of Ontario. We're falling a-s-l-e-e-p. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Making Sleepies

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He's old and forgetful. I have to look after him. Oh.Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after him, too. That's what families do.

Know what? Chance is sleeping. He sleeps a lot. That's cuz he's really little. He doesn't even have a tail, yet! I sing songs to him and he falls asleep. His favourite song is No Bears Out Tonight.  James taught me the song. He sits in the rocking chair and holds us tight and kisses our noses and sings. Know what? I will sing it for you, now.

No bears out tonight.
No bears out tonight.
No bears out tonight.
They've all gone to sleep.

I bet you're sleepy now, aren't you? I know I am. Okay. My eyes don't want to stay open. It's bedtime. I'm gonna take Chance and we're gonna find  James so we can have our bedtime story, say our prayers, sing the bear song and make sleepies. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying, "Be good citizens. Sing songs, brush your teeth and say your prayers before you go to bed. Good zzzZZZZ!'

Bath Time & Bedtime

Hi. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. I look after him 'cuz he's forgetful and really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20! I'm five, you know. My birthday is on Canada Day.

Oh, Wait!  I found a newborn cubby on the doorstep. He lives with us, too. He's really tiny. His name is Chance cuz every time I used to ask if I could have a little brother, James would say, "Fat chance Charles, you're a handful!"

Every night Chance and me get into the bathtub and James scrubs us down. We l-o-v-e to play in the tub. We make purple bubbles with our bubble bath. I share my firetruck, my rubber duckies and my boat with Chance. Sharing is what good citizens do.

Good citizens get to eat Smarties and wallermelon. When we're done with our baths,  James dries us off and reads us a bedtime story. Then we say our prayers. Chance doesn't pray. He's too little to talk. He  makes squeaky noises when he's happy.  James tucks us into bed. He says, "Good night my handsome bear cubs. Good night my Sons of Windsor. Good night my Princes of Ontario. Then we fall asleep.

Know what? We have a Spiderman nightlight in case we wake up in the dark. Bath time and bedtime are the bestest part of the day! I'm awful sleepy, so good-night. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
