Chance Forgets

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He is old and forgetful.  Today he couldn't find his sox. I found them. They were in his pocket!   I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing.

My son! What are you doing in here? Chance is in the fridge, again. I tell him it's not a good place to be but he's such a wee little cub he forgets. I don't forget. I'm five. If the door shuts, he might get very cold. I know how to make a cub into a cube. Add the letter "e"! Chance is hungry. I think he's looking for his bottle. He doesn't have any teeth, yet. He drinks condensed owls' milk, you know. As soon as I get Chance out of the fridge, we can dig holes in the backyard. Yeah. That is fun and it's safe, too.

Oh. Wait! Our neighbours and friends in the Knighted States are eating all kinds of good food today. That's' cuz it's Thanksgiving Day for them. I want pumpkin pie and Smarties and licorice pie, too. Those are good to eat and they're in the Canada Food Guide, too.

Oh! Did you hear that?  James is hollering, "Where's my handsome bear cubs? Where are the Sons of Windsor? What happened to the Princes of Ontario?" That's us! Charles and Chance! We're gonna run find James so he can kiss our noses and tickle our ears and make us laugh right out loud. Okay. We gotta go. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be good citizens. Don't climb into the fridge! Over and out!"

Chance is a Handful

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. You know me. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. He is forgetful and old. He says he's older than dirt. That's pretty old. , I have to look after him. Oh. Wait! Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left in a basket on our doorstep. He's a wee little thing. I look after him, too.

Know what? Yesterday we went to Mackenzie Hall to see our friends and buddies. Chance jumped out of  James' backpack and landed in the middle of Sandwich Street. Cars were going very fast and they had to drive around him. I was scared. James rescued Chance. He's too little to know when he's in danger. Now he's hiding and I found him. "My son!" I said, "It is not a good thing to hide in the fridge." Know what? Chance is a real handful. It's not easy to look after him. It's a full-time job. I'd better get him out of here and warm him up. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub saying, "Be a good citizen. Look after your little brother. Over and out!"

Hide & Seek is a Fun Game

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy,  James. I have to look after him 'cuz he's really old. He was the second Canadian to get off Noah's Ark. He must be 20 years old!  Oh, wait. Chance lives with us, too. He's a newborn cubby someone left on our doorstep one morning. He's a wee little thing. I have to look after him, too.

Chance can only drink condensed owls' milk for a bottle. Know why? Cuz he doesn't have any teeth. He can't talk! He makes squeaky noises when he's happy and squawky noises when he's hungry or has poo in his diaper. He's stinky, then. We're playing Hide & Seek. Chance has to hide and I count to 100. I count, "One elephant, two elephants, three elephants..." all the way up to 100. I'm five. I can count real high.

I'm looking for Chance. He's not a good hider. He should be easy to find. I've looked under the bed and in the closet. He's not under the chesterfield. One time Chance hid in the microwave oven. That is not a good place to hide, you know. I'll keep looking until I find him. Then he will be 'it' and I will hide.

Chance never finds me. He has to get James to help him. Know what? I l-o-v-e to play Hide & Seek. It's the funnest game. When I get found, we get to eat Smarties. I always sort them out and eat the red ones last. It's a rule you know. I gotta go find Chance. I bet he's hiding in the dirty clothes hamper. Yeah. I'll look there. Okay. Have fun today. Hope you play Hide & Seek! This is me, Charles, saying 'over and out!'

Hangin' Around

Hi. I'm Charles the Bear Cub. I live on Sparkle Road with my buddy, James. I look after him 'cuz he's old and forgetful. He forgot where he put his bicycle today. Oh. Wait!  I found a newborn cubby on the doorstep. He lives with us, now. His name is Chance. Chance is a wee little thing. I look after him, too.

Chance doesn't have teeth. He can't talk. He just squeaks when he's happy. Know what? Chance is so tiny, he doesn't even have a tail, yet. I have a tail but I didn't grow thumbs, yet.

Know what? I'm hangin' around at Mackenzie Hall. Chance is taking a nap. Newborn cubbies sleep a lot, you know. When he wakes up we can dig some holes and climb way up high. Yesterday, Chance climbed up on top of the fridge. He couldn't get down and he made little squawky noises.  James had to rescue him. He said, "Chance, Chance, Chance. You're a handful, aren't you?" Then he said, "You're a handful too, Charles."

I try to be a good citizen and do good things. Good citizens get to do fun things like eat wallermelon and Smarties. I'll be glad when Chance wakes up from his nap so we can play. Oh! Wait! Know what? I could wake him up and then we could play right now! Yeah. That's what I'm gonna do. Okay. I gotta go, now. This is me, Charles the Bear Cub, saying, 'over and out!'
